Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for the program, applicants must meet certain basic requirements:
- Applicants must be proficient in English. TOEFL is accepted by all the Stanford graduate programs. However, the MBA program also accepts IELTS and PTE.
- The scholarship is open to graduates of any nationality, ethnicity, gender, or age.
- Applicants must submit an application to, be accepted into and enroll in a full-time Stanford graduate degree program, such as DMA, JD, MA, MBA, MD, MFA, MPP, MS, or PhD. Applicants must meet at least one of the following four criteria:
- The applicant is applying to both KHS and a full-time Stanford graduate program concurrently, starting both in the same year.
- The applicant has received and deferred admission to a full-time Stanford graduate program and will apply to KHS, commencing both in the same year.
- The applicant is currently enrolled in a Stanford graduate program and will apply to start a second full-time Stanford program and KHS in the same year.
- The applicant is a first-year Stanford PhD student applying to KHS and plans to begin KHS in their second year of PhD study.
- Applicants must have earned a U.S. bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution in January 2018 or later. To apply for the 2025 cohort, applicants must have completed their bachelor’s degree by January 2018 or later.
- Applicants who are active military or veterans must have earned their degree in January 2015 or later.
- The applicant must meet the following three criteria: (1) Independent thinking (2) Purposeful leadership (3) Civic-mindedness.

- Applicants must fill out an online application, which includes questions about their academic background, research interests, and leadership experiences.
- Applicants must submit a resume detailing their academic achievements, work experience, and extracurricular activities, along with official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions attended.
- Applicants must provide GRE or GMAT scores if required.
- Applicants must provide two letters of recommendation from individuals who can attest to their academic accomplishments, research interests, and leadership potential.
